The 2015 Nissan Altima vs 2015 Honda Accord is the battle of Japan’s top car manufacturers. These cars offer premium quality, premium levels of comfort and equipment at a affordable price. Both are very similar yet different at the same time. Let’s see what sets them apart.
The 2015 Nissan Altima is the companies’ premium entry in the US. The base model of this car is very affordable, being priced at slightly lower than $23,000. For the price you will get the base 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine with 182 horsepower. This engine will be aimed at fleets and corporate customers rather than the retail market. Your best bet will probably be the 3.5 liter V6 unit with a hefty 270 horsepower. This engine is quite smooth and the power delivery follows the entire rev-range. Price of the 3.5 SL trim level is set to about $31,000 but for that much money we are getting great features.
The economy is great on such a big car thanks to good aerodynamics, a great Xtronic (CVT) transmission that acts like an automatic one. Also, on the higher equipped versions of the Altima you will be able to get paddle shift on the steering wheel (great bonus for people who want to drive a bit sportier!). You will be able to get, with the 2.5 liter engine, as much as 38 MPG on the highway and 27 MPG in the city while the 3.5 liter unit will be a bit thirstier, with 31 MPG on the highway and 22 MPG in the city.
2015 Nissan Altima Vs 2015 Honda Accord
The 2015 Honda Accord takes a different approach to this segment. The base model will feature a 2.4 liter engine with 185 horsepower. The base model will probably be better equipped than the Altima but it is interesting that it might be slightly cheaper, starting at almost $22,000. For the price you will get heated and ventilated seats, satellite navigation and premium sound system. Also, for a bit more you will be able to get the 3.5 liter V6 that is very flexible and smooth. The transmission you are able to get is the 6 speed manual that is great for people who want to drive a bit sportier.
If you’re the type of person that likes to drive more relaxed, then you will be able to get the CVT transmission that acts as an automatic. This has the best fuel economy in the lineup being able to return almost the same numbers as the Altima. If you are concerned with the environment, the Accord will most likely come with the option of a 2 liter hybrid that will feature an Atkinson cycle petrol engine and an electric motor. This will be the most fuel efficient engine on the Accord and will probably be the most expensive one, at, most likely, $35,000!
There is no doubt that both of these vehicles come with quite impressive features and as we said before they are similar in some segments. Main difference between these is about the design and it will be the most important factor when buying one of these two models.
