Since the previous year E Class received complete redesign the 2015 Mercedes E Class will be only a carryover with few small improvements. Previous year brought much more efficient powertrains thankfully to those BlueDIRECT four cylinder gasoline engines with optimized direct injection technology.
New line of more powerful yet efficient gasoline and diesel engines is offered with this version. Base engine could be the naturally aspirated 3.5 liter V6 unit that produces 248 hp and is offered in E300 while the same unit in E350 will offer 302 hp. More powerful 4.7 liter V8 in E550 pumps out 402 hp is refined with twin turbo technology and is paired only with all-wheel drive system. For the AMG models we will have 5.5 liter twin turbo of 550 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque.
For those that are looking for ways to reduce fuel consumption Mercedes will offer diesel engines. Instead of the six cylinder diesel we are now getting four cylinders as a base and it comes with 190 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque instead of 210 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Another diesel unit will be in the lineup, the E350 Bluetec, this 3.0 liter engine should offer more than 210 hp and more than 400 lb-ft of torque than it delivered in previous versions. This second diesel has not yet been confirmed so we will have to wait little longer to get additional info about this possibility.
2015 Mercedes E Class Redesign
When these powerful yet efficient engines are paired with start/stop system and seven speed automatic transmission it is possible to achieve quite great fuel economy results. For those that want even more there is a hybrid version. Standard 3.5 liter six cylinder engine is paired with 27 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque electric motor that will help out powering this big sedan. As a result this hybrid will return 24/30 mpg in city/highway drive conditions.
Lead designed Gordon Wagener introduced Ponton inspired rear fender but we need to say that most changes that are related to this model are about the front end. We are now again getting single headlamp shape and thankfully to LED daytime running lights this vehicle has great road presence. Both Sport and Luxury trim levels will be easily distinguished thankfully to easy to notice differences on the hood. The Sport version will of course come with much more aggressive design for both logo and grille while the suspension will be tweaked to lower setup.
Just like with all high level sedans from German car maker the 2015 Mercedes E Class will again come with great equipment. Seats are both great looking and supportive, aluminum or wood decor increases its elegance while the retro style is further pronounced with analog clock centrally mounted at the dashboard. Technology and safety features list is beyond impressive and every driver will be able to get things like stereoscopic camera, radar system, brake assist system, Pre-Safe Plus, radar controlled cruise control and much more.
Price Of 2015 Mercedes E Class
Starting price of the new 2015 Mercedes E Class is set to about $49,000 and it goes significantly higher to $68,500 for higher trim levels with stronger engines. This price will go even higher depending on the equipment those buyer choses so we do expect it to come quite costly.
