The 2015 Hyundai Elantra is rated at an average of 27 mpg City and 37 mpg highway while the Mazda 3 is rated at 31 mpg city and 37 mpg highway. The Mazda is capable of reaching a top speed of 118 mph while the acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is done in 7.4 seconds. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is done in about 7 seconds for Elantra while the max speed is stated to be 120 mph.
Its unfortunate for U.S. market because the 2015 Mazda 3 will first be made available in the middle east in mid-2014. It’s unclear whether the Japan manufacturer will be availing it in the US or when this is going to happen but we are pretty sure that they will offer this model on U.S. market also. It will be available with a price tag starting from slightly above $17,000. On the other hand, the Elantra is expected to be launched late 2014 with an on sale date at some point in 2015, with a price tag starting at almost identical price like its competitor, little over $ 17,000, the coupe and the GT will be higher but not exceeding $ 3,000 more.
Determining the overall winner is hard because these cars are available in the same price range and similar specs. The Elantra’s ability to provide more power makes it the overall winner in this head to head. The Mazda 3 was not left behind by a large margin.
