Currently available third generation of the Lincoln Navigator has been delivered in 2007 but the 2015 Lincoln Navigator is the first model since than that will offer some changes for this big SUV. Right ahead of the 2014 Chicago Auto Show we are getting these images and details about new vehicle.
Our best guess is that we will be able to see new model in showroom during the fall of this year and that it will be delivered as 2015 model. Quite similar design language was noticed on the smaller MKC model but we can’t say that the larger SUV comes with great looks like its smaller cousin.
2015 Lincoln Navigator Reveal
On the both ends we are getting new lights and some of the segments on the front are using LED technology. This certainly does make it modern but still it is a good question will it be able to compete with vehicles like Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX 570, Mercedes GL Class, Land Rover Range Rover and similar. Sale results of this vehicle in 2013 were quite a disappointment and it managed to sell in only 8.613 units. Because of this it is quite important for a new model to offer a lot more and to significantly improve sale results.
Biggest change that we are getting with the 2015 Lincoln Navigator is a new engine. Ford brought 3.5 liter V6 EcoBoost unit that is capable of delivering 370 hp and 430 pound feet of torque thankfully to the addition of turbo and direct injection technologies. Compared to previous model that offered only 5.4 liter V8 unit with 310 hp and 365 pound-feet of torque this is a significant increase and it should offer much better performances while the fuel consumption should not be affected, at least not greatly.
Power is transferred to either rear wheels or to all wheels through a six speed automatic transmission. With this setup new Navigator will be able to tow a lot and they will need to offer more than 8200-lb tow rating of the Escalade. The addition of the Control Trac Four Wheel Drive system grip will be increased on slippery surfaces.
Changes For 2015 Navigator
Interior is another segment where we are getting a lot. Just like with almost all vehicles in the lineup of this car maker the 2015 Lincoln Navigator comes with luxury interior. High quality materials in combination with new design, offers great looks and comfort. All over the cabin we can find premium leather, brushed metal accents and real wood trim.
Instrument cluster comes with a 4.2 inch LCD display and includes combination of SYNC MyLincoln Touch system that also uses the 8 inch touchscreen on the center console. Knob controls are still used to control most popular functions. Features like blind spot detection and rearview camera are standard on every model.
Just like we could previously hear the price of the 2015 Lincoln Navigator will be about $ 60.000 similar to previously available models. Production should start during the summer, most likely late summer while the deliveries will start during the fall.
