The 2015 Jeep Renegade is the first ever US market Jeep to have been built abroad and is to be unveiled in Geneva in March 2015. While the Renegade comes with a striking resemblance to the Wrangler Unlimited, designers still made sure that it did not come out looking repulsively cartoonish. Without a doubt this will be one true off-road vehicle with quite impressive off-road features.
Some of its most striking features are the black grille and trim plus the rectangular taillights with striking inserts Xs. The 2015 Jeep Renegade also comes in slightly bigger dimensions for its class at 166.6 inches long and 71 inches wide, which makes it roomier inside but do not expect luxury and comfort in this model like you would be getting from luxury vehicles.
The Renegade offers a choice of 4 cylinder engines. The smaller 1.4 liter turbocharged engine with 160 horsepower and a larger 2.4 liter non-turbo rated at 184 horse power. The smaller engine comes with 6 speed manual transmission and the larger one with 9 speed automatic transmission. It has both FWD and 4WD giving buyers the freedom to choose their preferred option. One of the things that we would like to see delivered with the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade is the small turbocharged diesel unit. The 2.0 liter displacement unit with 150 to 170 hp could be the best choice, with a lot of torque and low fuel consumption it would certainly be an attractive option.
Specs Of 2015 Jeep Renegade
Buyers can also choose between the Jeep Active Drive system and Jeep Active Drive Low. The Active Drive system on 2015 Jeep Renegade is guaranteed to send even up to 100% of engine torque to whichever drive wheel as required. The Jeep Active Drive Low on the other hand employs select terrain traction control with Snow, Sport, Auto as well as Sand/ Mud. Its rear axle when not needed for traction disconnects leading to lower fuel consumption.
The 2015 Jeep Renegade will have features similar to those of upper level jeeps such as a 7-inch gauge display, a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision and lane departure warning. Also inclusive is a smartphone integrated infotainment system that also brings 5 and 6.5 inch touchscreens. Removable dual sunroofs will allow the outside in just like those of the Wrangler.
Round headlights typical of Jeep’s classic features will make it all the outstanding in a crowd. It is also guaranteed to handle quite a lot of on and off-road abuse in all sorts of terrain. Increased structural rigidity and unique suspension components give it unbeatable functionality. To toughen up the 2015 Jeep Renegade, designers gave it trapezoidal wheel arches and trinkets as well as short overhangs. It air pot vents on the dash-top look like performance goggles for downhill skiers and the Xs on the taillights are borrowed from the jerry cans. An isolated rear suspension cradle and acoustic laminated windshield help quiet the cabin.
Price Of 2015 Jeep Renegade
This all terrain beast is expected to cost an estimated $20,000 or less on its release. After adding more equipment or choosing higher trim level, this price will certainly go significantly higher. More details about this and other segments of 2015 Jeep Renegade that are still in the dark will be available right after the Geneva Motor Show for which this car has been announced to officially appear.
