With the delivery of the 2015 Hyundai Equus we are getting slight changes and refreshed vehicle. This will be the car that will compete in one of the most demanding market segments, full-size luxury sedan market. With highly competitive German brands and luxury models from Japan it will be great challenge for Hyundai to take over a significant part of the market.
Many Japanese brands created their luxury arms for vehicles like this but from Korean car maker we could hear that this is a long and expensive process. Those were among the main reasons but also the creation of new brand was not necessary mainly because this vehicle will be significantly different than the entry level offer from Hyundai.
Changes that the 2015th model brings in interior are noticeable and we are getting more premium materials and improved displays that are now larger and sharper. Depending on the trim level that you chose you will be getting some quite impressive features like cooled rear seats with power lumbar and headrest support. Three zone automatic climate can be adjusted superbly while the Ivory leather that comes optional looks fantastic but could be really hard to keep it perfectly clean.
Redesigned 2015 Hyundai Equus
Looking at the 2015 Hyundai Equus we can notice that it is significantly different design than any other model from this automaker lineup. Grill design is sourced from Mercedes models while the headlights come with LED technology and similarities with Audi and on the back we have tail lights that remind us on BMW. Even all these elements are pretty hard to pack in one vehicle Korean company managed to do it and we are getting one quite nice vehicle that will be able to compete with main contenders on this market.
We expect to see redesigned wheels and those will most likely be 19 inch models. More refinement and elegance will be offered with the delivery of LED fog lights, new grille, different side mirrors and similar. For the 2014th model we were able to see the introduction of one new color, the Night Shadow Brown color and we do expect to see this one on new model but also few others might be added to the choice.
When we are talking about power, performances and what is under the hood, it seems that there will be no changes for the 2015 Hyundai Equus. According to reports we will be getting quite capable 5.0 liter V8 unit that is refined with the delivery of direct injection and variable valve timing technology. As a result this engine produces 429 hp at 6400 rpm and 376 lb-ft of torque that is available at 5000 rpm. Power is transferred through a eight speed automatic transmission that also comes with paddle shifters and in this setup 2015 Equus will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than six seconds. According to EPA it will return 15/23 mpg in city/highway drive cycles.
2015 Hyundai Equus Price
For the 2014th model we had price tag of $61.920 and we do expect this price to go slightly higher and that the base model will cost up to $64.000 while the higher trim level models will cost up to $70.000. Comparing the price with vehicles like Mercedes S Class, Audi A8, Lexus LS and BMW 7 Series that are its main competitors we can notice that it is significantly lower and more affordable. We do expect that the sales will start before the end of this year but there are still no official information’s about this date.
