According to recently received reports it seems that the 2015 Hyundai Elantra will be offered with significant changes. This has not yet been confirmed and it is possible that during the 2015th we will be getting new model that will be delivered to the market as a 2016th model.
What we do know so far is the fact that the design guru Peter Schreyer will be the man in charge of development of this vehicle. Recently appointed president of Hyundai-Kia Motor Group will certainly help out this vehicle to become much more appealing to the U.S. customers but also to other markets where it will be offered. Reports suggest that major changes will be related to the exterior design of this vehicle while the engine lineup will receive only moderate changes.
2015 Hyundai Elantra Release Date
Interior changes will also be substantial and we will be getting nicely equipped vehicle with good level of craftsmanship. More tech and modern features are expected to be offered and things like large touch screen that will control climate system, audio, navigation, rearview camera, etc, will also come with all the most important information’s that are needed to driver.
Engine lineup include 1.8 liter four cylinder engine that comes as a base option and produces 145 hp and 130 lb-ft of torque. Slightly more power is delivered with 2.0 liter GDI unit that produces 173 hp at 6500 rpm and 154 lb-ft of torque that is available at 4700 rpm. This engine has been based on the 1.8 liter unit that now comes with 97 mm stroke compared to 87.2 mm stroke of 1.8 liter version.
According to EPA estimates the 2.0 liter model with six speed automatic transmission will return 24/35 mpg city/highway while the less powerful 1.8 liter unit will offer 28/38 mpg in city/highway drive conditions. Things like gasoline direct injection or GDI further improve the fuel economy and efficiency. Injection pressure is higher and with more direct and shorter fuel path delivery that we have with this system it is possible to better control injection time and create better mixture that as a result offer lower fuel consumption and more power.
Changes For 2015 Hyundai Elantra
There are still many things that we do not know about the 2015 Hyundai Elantra and possible 2016th model but we do expect to see this new model delivered with a similar size like the previous version. When it comes to the trim levels and shapes in which we will be getting new Elantra we again think that sedan, hatchback and coupe versions will be offered.
One of the things that we are sure that U.S. market buyers would like to see is the hybrid model. This version could be also offered but we still do not have any details about powertrain that it will be offered here. Current trend in car industry is the delivery of smaller turbocharged gasoline engines and this could be one of the things that new model will also offer.
