The 2015 Ford Focus is a compact car by the American multinational automaker that was unveiled at the 2014 New York Auto Show. The 2015 Honda Civic is a subcompact car which has gone through a redesign with few changes for new design that is now in some segments heavily linked to performance, so you can rest assured that the 2015 model is faster than its predecessors.

We will compare the top of the offer performance oriented versions of these two models. The Ford Focus ST version will be powered by a 2.0 liter EcoBoost four cylinder engine delivering 252hp to the front wheels via six-speed manual. All this power is transferred through a six-speed automatic transmission. There is no doubt that both of these offer great amount of power and performances that will be quite satisfying for those hatchback lovers.

For those drivers that are not chasing performances Ford also has a new engine option, a 1.0 liter three-cylinder Eco Boost engine, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox that produces 123hp and 148lb-ft of torque with 40mpg fuel efficiency on highway. This engine will only be available in the US. When it comes to power, the 2015 Ford wins facing very minimal competition from the Civic thankfully to a larger choice of engines. The 2015 Honda Civic comes with 1.8 liter and 2.4 liter both inline four cylinder units that produce 143 na 205 hp. Other engines from Ford lineup include base 1.6 liter 120 hp and 2.0 liter unit of 160 hp but it will be interesting to see if 1.5 and 1.6 liter EcoBoost models will be offered.

The Fuel efficiency of the 2015 Honda Civic is rated up to 31 mpg city and 41 mpg highway which is ok for a car in this category. The fuel efficiency of the 2015 Ford Focus is not available but the 2014 model was rated at 26 mpg in the City and 36 mpg on the highway while the new 1 liter modern marvel is rated at an impressive 40mpg.

The exact release dates of these cars is not available but you can expect them to be launched late 2014 with an on sale date at some point in 2015. The latest Civic Type R will not be offered in the US because it is designed for the rest of the world. Both cars will be available at prices starting from slightly above $18,000 for a base model while the performance oriented versions will cost more than $30,000.

This was a tough competition, with both cars matching each other in many segments but we might give 2015 Honda Civic slight advantage thankfully to more powerful 2.0 liter engine and its sportier looks. Deal breaker in this case will be mostly related to design preferences of the customer.
