We can easily agree that the Dodge Challenger offers great amounts of power but for those that want more in this and few other segments this car maker will deliver the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Improved handling, design, performances, larger and supercharged engine are only the few major components that has been changed.
Exterior has been inspired with the 1971 model and this is quite obvious on this model but also on the original version that received facelift. Difference between Hellcat and a standard model are noticeable with different front grille that is now much cleaner and well integrated four projector lamps on the front. Large air intakes and air extractors that are located on the hood will allow much better air supply to the engine and its optimal cooling. A lot of time in wind tunnel has been used to optimize every inch of the body so it would offer better aerodynamics and max performances.
When we sit in the interior we will immediately notice that this is performance and driver oriented vehicle and it comes with few small changes compared to a standard version. Steering wheel with SRT badging comes with a flat bottom while the instrument cluster is enriched with unique graphics. Well combined aluminum accents and French seamed accent stitching is available on the leather surfaces. As a standard there is heated and cooled Nappa leather plus Alcantara trim seats that also bring large side bolsters to provide optimal body support in high speed cornering and similar.
2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Review
At this moment there are no official announcements about the total power of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and its 6.2 V8 supercharged HEMI engine. What we could hear is that it will bring more than 600 hp and that it should provide more power than the 8.4 liter V10 unit in the Viper. To achieve this level of power we are getting forged alloy pistons, heat treated aluminum cylinder heads and similar high strength materials. Power is send through either eight speed automatic transmission or the six speed manual.
Similar system that is offered with Veyron will be also offered in this car. Two key fobs will be used and both of these will have different setups of engine and suspension. Standard or the Valet Mode will reduce power that engine produces and make the suspension softer, this is also known as a street setting that will disable Launch Control and ESC. When the max power is needed second key is used and it will unleash more than 600 hp and improve handling making the suspension much stiffer. As a result it will be possible to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds while the quarter mile run will be done in less than 12 seconds. Max speed is expected to be more than 200 mph or 300 km/h which yet is to be tested.
To further improve track times we are getting split seven spoke 20 inch wheels that are exclusive for the SRT models and are created of forged aluminum. Suspension has been tuned and the Pirelli P Zero tires will insure optimal amount of grip. Large 15.4 inch two piece rotors and six piston calipers are on each wheel and those are made by Brembo so we are sure that they will offer incredible stopping power in all conditions.
