Few small changes are expected for the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu and we will most likely see those changes regarding few features that will come as a standard instead optional. This is done because the 2014th model was offered with significant changes and improvements so it is still fresh and attractive.
Competitive mid-size sedan market to which this vehicle belongs is one of the busiest segments in the U.S. With versatility that we are getting from this type of vehicles and great fuel economy that can be achieved with only little sacrifice it is quite attractive for many drivers. Because of this it is important to offer at least slight changes for every new model just like it is the case with this new 2015th version.
Just like for the 2014th model we have the revised and redesigned seats that significantly lower the fatigue during the long journeys but are also much more supportive than before. With slightly more interior room all passengers will have extra space and that will be quite noticeable on the back seat. For this segment we are getting pretty good grade of materials and everything is nicely manufactured and packed into one.
On the exterior we have immediately notice the different front end that is now closer to the design used for other sedan vehicles in the Chevrolet lineup. It was inspired by the Impala front end providing more aggressive but also more elegant looks. Chrome details on the larger and more prominent grille further improves its looks while offers better aerodynamics and better air supply to the engine.
Specs Of 2015 Chevrolet Malibu
Same engines will be available in the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu like it was the case with previous year model. Completely new 2.5 liter inline four cylinder unit was offered and is refined with direct injection and variable intake valve for improved engine response and lower fuel consumption. Power it delivers is rated at 196 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque which should be more than enough for most drivers. With addition of the start/stop system and revised transmission further fuel economy improvements are achieved.
It is good to know that drivers that are looking for more power will be again able to choose the 2.0 liter inline four cylinder turbocharged engine. Compared to previous generation of these engines unit in the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu comes with about 14 percent more torque. As a result we have 295 lb-ft of torque and 259 hp which are results comparable with six cylinder units. With this amount of torque it will be much easier to accelerate especially since it is delivered at pretty low rpm’s so there will be no need for constant gear changes when you need to accelerate.
Another interesting version is the mild hybrid that is offered with 2.4 liter four cylinder unit that comes coupled with electric motor. Total power output is 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque but have in mind that this version is not able to propel the car using only electric power. This setup brings identical fuel economy like the 2.5 liter equipped version at 25/36/29 mpg in city/highway/combined. Slightly lower fuel economy is delivered by the more powerful 2.0 liter turbo engine and it offers 21/30/24 mpg in same conditions.
2015 Chevrolet Malibu Release Date
Since there will be no significant changes for the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu we expect to see almost identical price tags. Only a slight price increase is possible and base model should stay in the range under $23.000 while the higher trim levels and vehicles with better equipment should cost up to and maybe even slightly higher than $30.000. Release date has not been officially confirmed but we do expect this vehicle to be presented before the fall of 2014th and that it will be available at dealers before the end of this year.
